Oiling and Maintenance
If you want your machine to stay happy, this is the most important maintenance procedure!
Clean and Oil the Hook and Race
There are two methods described below for Hook Maintenance: the QUICK oiling procedure and the the FULL oiling/cleaning procedure.
We will cover both the Oscillating Hook (CB) and Rotary Hook.
*(This procedure should be done after every 6-8 hours of sewing)*
Oscillating Hook machines include most bernina models, such as 130-170 and 220-630.
There are fewer rotary hook machines.

NOTE: Too much oiling may cause poor quality stitches with a rotary hook, but oiling is essential--in moderation. One should still oil a rotary hook after every 6-8 eight hours of sewing, just not in excess.
